Prescriptions
If you have a prescription (NHS or private) simply contact PCPdirect,
where our highly trained pharmacy team will be delighted to
advise you how we can dispense your prescription. All mail order
and internet prescriptions are delivered via our courier service
in the Tamworth locality, and using a signed delivery service
elsewhere in the world. As well as stocking medicines, we also
stock and dispense a wide range of hosiery, trusses, and stoma
appliances. All medicines are dispensed in child resistant containers
unless you request us not to. Remember to keep all medicines
out of the reach of children. If you have any questions about
your treatment, please do not hesitate to ask.
Computerised medication records
You are invited to join our computerised medication record scheme.
This will enable us to provide a fast and efficient service
that is particularly useful if you require repeat prescriptions.
Our computer is also able to link to the new NHS electronic
prescribing system, for easier and quicker prescription delivery.
The pharmacist can also use your records to give you advice
when purchasing over the counter remedies. This is a confidential,
discreet service to which only you and authorised health care
professionals have access. Your record only contains information
provided by you or authorised healthcare professionals, and
details of any medicines dispensed to you by PCPdirect.
Out of hours services
For out of hours service, please visit our website which contains
information pages and links to other helpful sites. Alternatively,
please contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
Emergencies
If you urgently require a prescription medicine that has been
previously prescribed by your doctor, and you cannot see your
doctor, then we may be able to help. However, we can only do
this in cases of genuine emergency and we shall have to charge
the full price of medicines dispensed. This service is not available
on the NHS. If you need medicines in an emergency when PCPdirect
is closed, you should contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
Unwanted medicines
Old, unwanted medicines should be disposed of safely. Local
pharmacies can dispose of these for you, free of charge. At
all times remember to keep medicines out of the reach of children,
preferably in a locked medicine cabinet.
Help and advice
Our new service provides more than just dispensing. You can
expect sympathetic and confidential advice about your prescription
and any medical related problems you may be experiencing. Some
common complaints can often be treated with medicines that we
stock in the pharmacy. Our pharmacist will recommend a suitable
choice or you may be advised to see your doctor.
Customer service
We offer an informal in-house procedure to deal with any problems
or concerns you may have about the services we provide. This
is completely confidential. Our aim is to give you the highest
possible standard of service and we try to deal swiftly with
any problems that may occur. If you are dissatisfied, please
contact our pharmacist who will be able to help.
